10/29 Webinar: Ensuring Access to Medicaid for Individuals with Mental Illnesses Reentering Their Communities from Prison: A Program Model from Oklahoma
The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center is pleased to announce its sixth webinar in the Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program Series, sponsored by the Bureau of Justice AssistanceEnsuring Access to Medicaid for Individuals with Mental Illnesses Reentering Their Communities from Prison: A Program Model from Oklahoma
Many individuals with mental illnesses leave prison without health insurance, placing them at risk of symptom relapse, re-arrest, and re-incarceration. This webinar will feature an innovative program to ensure that eligible individuals have access to Medicaid on their release date or soon after, including evaluation data documenting the program's effects. Bob Mann, from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, will detail components of the program, which involved extensive collaboration among the state's corrections, mental health, and Medicaid agencies. Dr. Henry Ireys, of Mathematica Policy Research, Inc., will present results of an evaluation of the impact of the program on Medicaid enrollment, service use, and other outcomes. There will be a question-and-answer period with the speakers.
